Please make sure to read all of our regulations and information prior to entry. 

1. ELIGIBILITY

​

This festival is for amateur performers only, who for the purposes of the festival are considered to be ones who do not receive more than out of pocket expenses for services rendered in the art of dance. 

 

2. ENTRIES    

                                                          

a) Age for class purposes is that of the competitor on 1st September 2024.

b) Solos - No competitor shall compete more than once in any solo class and shall only enter in their appropriate age class.

Duets/Trios - No competitors may dance together more than once in any one duet/trio class and no competitor shall compete more than twice in any one duet/trio class.  Entries only accepted in the appropriate age group for eldest dancer.           

c) Dance Schools may not enter more than 2 groups in any group class (a group must consist of a minimum of 4 dancers)   

d) All dancers must be ready to perform 30 minutes before the publicised start time and arrive at the auditorium doors 15 minutes prior to publicised start time. 

e) The Committee reserves the right to refuse any proposed entry, and to restrict or divide classes where the maximum number of competitors has been reached.  They also reserve the right to alter classes if necessary and decide on the order of classes.         

f) Winning dances may be repeated for a maximum of 2 further occasions at our Festival            

g) Music to be presented in CD form only. They must be clearly marked with the competitor’s name and class number then handed to a steward when backstage.  One piece of recorded music only per CD.  Please ensure that you have a back-up in case of non-playing.

h) No vocal is allowed on accompaniment for song & dance.   

i) Novice Classes are for competitors who have never been placed 1st in a solo dance in the particular genre they are entering at this or any other Festival.  Entrants in the novice section cannot also enter the general solo classes for the same genre.   Please ask for advice if unsure.        

j) No pointe work allowed in any Novice Classes, or Ballet section under 13yrs. 

k) The supervision of children in allocated changing rooms is the responsibility of the teachers/schools/parents/guardians and they will not be supervised by Festival Personnel.  However, the changing facilities will be monitored for tidiness and the Festival Committee respectfully ask that all rooms used are kept clean and tidy with all rubbish disposed of accordingly

 

3. PHOTOGRAPHY

​

The Festival is bound by copyright law and cannot allow photography, audio or video recordings of any kind including mobile phones during a performance all of which are absolutely forbidden.  A breach of this rule may lead to disqualification of the competitor being recorded.  However, performers may be asked to be photographed for the sole purpose of publicity. 

 

4. ENTRY FEES

Class entry fees are as follows:        

ALL SOLO CLASSES £5.00 

ALL DUET/TRIO CLASSES £8.00                                        

ALL GROUP CLASSES £15.00

 

5. ADJUDICATION SHEETS / CERTIFICATES

​All performers will receive an adjudication sheet and certificate, which will be available to competitors as soon as is practicable following the class. They may be posted if a stamped addressed envelope is provided.  A trophy will be awarded to all 1st  places & a medal will be awarded to all 2nd & 3rd places.

6. TROPHIES

Trophies will be awarded to the winner of each class and are retained by such winner.

  

Overall awards chosen by the Adjudicator are held for 9 months and remain the property of North Devon Dance Festival.  These trophy holders are personally responsible for the safe custody and return to the appropriate secretary by 31st August the following year.

The committee reserves the right to withhold trophies in classes where in the opinion of the Adjudicator a sufficiently high standard has not been attained.

 

7. ADMISSION CHARGES

Family members and members of the public are welcome to view all sessions of the competition for a small charge.

ADULTS: £5.00

CHILDREN: £2.00

FAMILY: £10.00 (2 adults + children)

​

Programmes will be available to purchase on the door @ £3.00 each.

 

8. COMPLAINTS / OBJECTIONS

Any complaint/objection relating to the Festival must be submitted in writing to the Festival Chairperson for consideration by the committee if necessary.  The decision of the committee on all matters arising, or not specifically covered in these regulations is final.

 

9. GENERAL INFORMATION

All teachers, chaperones and helpers accompanying or escorting performers should wear ID badges.
